Figured Oak Tavli (Backgammon Board)

This tavli, or backgammon board, is built from complete scratch. The box was made from a highly figured board of Oak, with the various other elements cut from pieces of Sapele, Red Oak, and Redwood. This piece also features some decorative patterned plywood chevrons and diamonds as requested by the client. The circular stones are made from White Oak and Walnut to allow for a big contrast between the ‘black’ and ‘white’ pieces.

Although highly decorative, the joinery in this board allows it to stand up to heavy and regular use.
